The Visitor

trailer

Just clicking through a couple trailers at at apple.com when I noticed a friend from The Village Church, Danai Gurira, in a staring role in this new movie. We were in the same small group for a while, until she hit the big time with In the Continuum, which was amazing! Great job Danai, and may God bless your success.

Tim Keller in Newsweek

Article

The Village Church was Redeemer's first plant 14 years ago, and I was attending Redeemer then and was part of that plant. Nice to see the man who we down in the Village called the 700lb gorilla getting some press for the good he's doing.

ACOG on Homebirth (UPDATED)

Unless a woman is in a hospital, an accredited freestanding birthing center, or a birthing center within a hospital complex, with physicians ready to intervene quickly if necessary, she puts herself and her baby's health and life at unnecessary risk.

Hmmm... Weird knowing that the "official" group thinks we have and are intending on putting our baby's and Hallie's life at risk in choosing homebirth. I'm sorry, but ACOG needs to get a clue.

The Mommy Blawg responds well.

**UPDATED**
The True Face of Birth has an extensive list of links to responses.

Obama Propaganda Poster

Not sure yet whether Obama really represents progress, but this poster is great. Created by legendary poster maker Shepard Fairey (think Giant and Walk the Line), they certainly scream propaganda. He's obviously a supporter, so it seems to be ironic.

Groundhog Day

Definitely one of our favorite movies, though I never knew it was filmed in Woodstock, IL. We always thought is was actually filmed in Punxsutwawney, PA, and would always chuckle as we passed the town on the drive from NY to IN. Anyway, here's a video from the visitors bureau of Woodstock about the making of the film some 16 years ago. The narrator definitely seems like he could have been an extra in the movie!
